21 Days of Prayer

An Invitation to Seek God Together

These twenty-one days are an invitation—not a performance.

We are setting aside focused time to draw near to the Father through Jesus, listen through Scripture and the Holy Spirit, and join one another in prayer.

We are asking God to begin in us, deepen His life among us, and turn our hearts toward the people and places around us.

During these twenty-one days, we will draw near to God, learn to live by His Spirit together, and pray for our communities.

Rhodesville Free Will Baptist Church is hosting this journey and welcoming others to seek Him with us. We especially welcome individuals, families, pastors, congregations, and neighbors throughout the communities within roughly fifty miles of Rhodesville. If you are joining from farther away, pray for the people and places God has entrusted to you.

Some prayers may be answered quickly. Others may unfold over time.

Our confidence is not in completing a challenge or finding perfect words. Our confidence is in the character of God, the finished work of Jesus, and the faithful presence of the Holy Spirit.

How to Use Each Day

Prayer and Fasting

Fasting is a voluntary way of setting aside a normal appetite, comfort, or distraction so we can give focused attention to God. It does not earn His favor, increase His willingness to love us, or place Him under obligation. It helps us humble ourselves, recognize our dependence, and make room to listen.

You may choose to miss a meal, simplify certain foods, step away from entertainment or social media, or surrender another meaningful comfort. Let the time and attention you recover become prayer, Scripture, worship, generosity, or presence with people.

Choose wisely. Children, pregnant or nursing mothers, people with diabetes, eating-disorder histories, medication requirements, or other medical concerns should not undertake food fasting without appropriate medical guidance. A non-food fast can be spiritually meaningful.

Prayer, Partnership, and Spiritual Authority

Prayer does not force God to act, earn His favor, or make Him more loving. God has already drawn near in Jesus. He initiates relationship and mission; in prayer, we accept His invitation to partner with Him.

Partnership is not passivity. Jesus teaches us to ask for the Father’s Kingdom to come and His will to be done on earth. Under the lordship of Christ, the Holy Spirit enables believers to pray, witness, serve, forgive, resist evil, pursue healing and freedom, and act with delegated spiritual authority in agreement with Scripture.

This authority is never independent power, control over other people, or a way to command God. It remains submitted to Jesus, shaped by His character, guided by His Word, and exercised through the love and power of the Holy Spirit.

We pray boldly and act obediently while trusting God with the outcome. Keep the center clear: We are not trying to persuade a reluctant God. We are responding to His invitation, partnering with His purposes, and praying for His Kingdom to come.

The Twenty-One-Day Journey

Week One — Drawing Near to God

We begin by turning our attention toward God through surrender, repentance, Scripture, prayer, and a renewed hunger for His presence.

Week Two — Living by His Spirit Together

We ask the Holy Spirit to form the life of Jesus among us through love, unity, forgiveness, healing, prayer, and shared spiritual life.

Week Three — Praying for Our Communities

We turn our prayers outward toward the people and places around us—the lost, families, missionaries, local churches, the next generation, community leaders, and spiritual awakening throughout our region and beyond.
